Browser Market Share Statistics 2026
Seven measurement panels, two original concentration readings, and the residual everyone else rounds away. Browser shares from Statcounter, July 2026 (North America: May 2026 snapshot).

Worldwide browser share, July 2026
Six browsers account for 97.34% of measured sessions. The remaining 2.66% is unreported, not empty — it is shared by Brave, Vivaldi, DuckDuckGo, Yandex, Coc Coc and every AI-first browser.

Browser Concentration Index (BCI) by panel
BCI-B squares and sums each reported browser's share on the 0–10,000 Herfindahl-Hirschman scale. BCI-E repeats the operation after collapsing browsers to rendering engines. Every panel sits above the 1,800-point line the 2023 US Merger Guidelines use for a highly concentrated market — and the engine reading is higher in all seven.
BCI-B, browser level. Dashed line marks the 1,800-point threshold.
Browser level vs engine level. The gap is the choice that disappears when Blink browsers are counted together.
Concentration readings, full table
Both indices exclude the unreported residual, which makes every value a conservative floor rather than an estimate.

Device class rewrites the ranking
Second place is Edge on desktop, Safari on mobile, Safari on tablet. The Platform Dependence Score quantifies it: the share of a browser's position that rests on one device class, computed only for browsers reported on all three panels.
Missing bars are unreported panel positions, not zero share.
PDS = (max − min device-class share) ÷ max. Higher means more platform-locked.
Regional share is a hardware story
Chrome runs 23.42 points higher in Africa than North America; Safari runs 20.67 points the other way. These are the same line. Safari's regional share is the clearest published proxy for Apple hardware penetration in open data.

On panel disagreement. Statcounter weights page views from tagged sites. Cloudflare counts HTTP requests across its own network and puts Chrome at roughly two-thirds of 2025 traffic. The US General Services Administration runs a third panel on federal-site visits. Axis Intelligence Research publishes the divergence rather than blending it — three different units with three different bot-filtering regimes cannot be averaged into a figure more precise than any of its inputs. On iOS every browser renders through WebKit, so the WebKit rows here are floors and the Blink rows are ceilings.
