Editorial Policy
Last updated: June 14, 2026
Axis Intelligence is an independent technology media site. This page exists so readers, advertisers, sources, and search engines can understand exactly how we operate, what we test, how we fund our work, and how we handle mistakes.
If anything below is unclear or appears to be violated in a specific article, we want to hear about it. Email [email protected] or use our contact form.
Our mission
Axis Intelligence exists to help people make confident technology decisions — what to buy, what to install, what to avoid, what’s actually changing, and what’s just marketing. We focus on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, SaaS and business tools, consumer hardware, smart home, green technology, networking, and gaming.
We are not a press-release rewriting site. Every product we recommend has been tested by the author whose byline appears on the article. Every statistic we publish is sourced to a named primary source — government data, academic research, named research institutes, or vendor reports we can link to. Every prediction is hedged with the uncertainty it deserves.
Editorial independence
The editorial team alone decides what we cover and what we conclude.
- No paid placements in our reviews and best-of articles. Vendors cannot pay to appear in our “best” lists or to receive a favorable rating. Inclusion is based on our editor and writer’s judgment about whether a product belongs in the comparison.
- Sponsored content is clearly labeled. Any article that is paid for by a third party will carry a clearly visible “Sponsored” or “Partner Content” label at the top of the page. These articles are not produced by our editorial team and do not influence our reviews.
- Advertising does not influence editorial. Display advertisers, banner sponsors, and the businesses we work with on our advertise page have no input into what our writers conclude about products — including their own.
- Affiliate revenue does not change rankings. Some links in our reviews and best-of articles are affiliate links, meaning Axis Intelligence may earn a commission if you click and purchase. Affiliate partnerships are negotiated separately from editorial decisions. A product does not rank higher because we earn more from it; in many of our top recommendations, the affiliate payout is lower than for the alternatives.
If you ever read an Axis Intelligence article and suspect that editorial independence has been compromised, we want to investigate. Email [email protected].
How we fund our work
Axis Intelligence is funded through three transparent sources:
- Affiliate commissions. When you buy a product through a link in our reviews, we may earn a commission from the retailer. This costs you nothing.
- Display advertising. Banner ads served through standard ad networks appear on most pages.
- Sponsored placements. Companies can pay for clearly labeled sponsored articles, banner placements, or guest contributor positions — see advertise. Sponsored content does not influence our reviews and is always labeled.
We do not accept payment from any vendor in exchange for a positive review, a higher ranking in a best-of list, or favorable coverage of a product. If a vendor offers this, we decline.
How we test products
The full per-domain methodology for product testing is documented at /how-we-test/. In summary:
- Hands-on use is the baseline. We do not review products we have not tested ourselves.
- Real conditions, not labs. We test devices in homes, offices, and on real networks — not in controlled lab environments — because that’s where readers will use them.
- Time matters. Reviews are written after at least a week of regular use. Long-term reviews (30, 60, 90 days) follow for products that warrant deeper assessment.
- Methodology is disclosed. Every review and best-of article includes a “How We Tested” section explaining what we evaluated, on what hardware, over what period.
How we report statistics and data
Statistics and data reports are published under our Axis Intelligence Research division.
Every statistic we publish meets all of the following:
- Named primary source. We cite the original source — typically a government agency (.gov), university research center (.edu), or named research institute — not a secondary aggregator.
- Date stamped. Each statistic is published with the year it was collected and the date Axis Intelligence verified it.
- Linked. A direct link to the source publication is provided, when public.
- Methodology noted. Where the source’s methodology is unusual or controversial (e.g., survey-based self-reported figures, modeled projections), we note the limitation.
- Updated quarterly. Every statistics article is reviewed at least once per quarter. If the underlying data has been updated, our article is refreshed.
When Axis Intelligence Research conducts its own primary research (surveys, original tests, scraped public data), we publish the full methodology, sample size, and data limitations on the article itself, and we make the underlying anonymized dataset available for download where possible.
Use of AI
Axis Intelligence uses AI tools (large language models, image generation, transcription) in some parts of our workflow — for example, transcribing test sessions, generating draft outlines, or assisting with research summaries. This is similar to how most newsrooms now use spell-checkers, search engines, and analytics dashboards.
What AI does not do at Axis Intelligence:
- AI does not generate the final published article.
- AI does not write product recommendations.
- AI does not invent statistics or quotes.
- AI does not replace hands-on testing.
- AI does not bypass the editorial review process.
Every article published carries a real author byline. That author is responsible for the content, has reviewed it for accuracy, and has tested the products or verified the data described. If an article contains a factual error, that’s an editorial failure — not an “AI mistake.”
Conflicts of interest
Writers disclose conflicts of interest in the article itself when relevant:
- Personal financial stakes in companies covered (e.g., shareholding) are disclosed.
- Family or close personal relationships with employees of a company being reviewed are disclosed.
- Free review units of hardware are noted; we typically return or donate hardware after the review period.
A writer who has a significant unmanageable conflict of interest does not write the article — another team member does.
Corrections
We make mistakes. When we do, we correct them transparently.
Our correction process:
- Reader-flagged errors — email [email protected] with the article URL and the specific issue. We respond within two business days.
- Verified errors — corrected in the article within 24 hours of verification.
- The article shows what changed. A correction note is added at the bottom of the article, dated, describing what was corrected and why.
- Significant corrections — if a correction materially changes a recommendation or a key data point, it is also noted at the top of the article and announced on our X / social channels.
We do not silently edit articles after publication to fix errors. The correction log stays visible.
Ethics
In addition to the policies above:
- We don’t republish copyrighted material. Quotes are attributed, short, and used under fair use. Statistics are cited to their sources.
- We don’t take payment to remove unfavorable reviews. If a product we reviewed has genuinely improved, we’ll update or re-review it. We will not delete a review because a vendor objects.
- We don’t manipulate reader behavior with dark patterns. No fake countdown timers, no fake “X people viewing this product right now,” no fake scarcity.
- We disclose affiliate relationships. Every article that contains affiliate links carries a visible affiliate disclosure.
- We respect reader privacy. We don’t sell reader data. We minimize third-party tracking. Our privacy policy is at /privacy/.
Diversity
The Axis Intelligence editorial team currently consists of nine writers across cybersecurity, AI, networking, SaaS, careers, consumer tech, smart home, gaming, and clean energy, plus Axis Intelligence Research as a data and statistics arm. We are committed to expanding the team with writers from a range of backgrounds, geographies, and lived experiences as we grow.
