Broadcom generated $63.9 billion in full-year fiscal 2025 revenue — a 24% increase year-over-year — and its AI semiconductor business is now on a trajectory that could make it the first non-Nvidia chip company to cross $50 billion in annual AI chip sales. In Q2 fiscal year 2026, AI semiconductor revenue reached $10.8 billion in a single quarter, up 143% year-over-year, with CEO Hock Tan guiding to $16 billion for Q3.
Quick Answer
Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) posted $63.887 billion in fiscal year 2025 revenue, up 24% from $51.574 billion in fiscal 2024. Its AI semiconductor segment reached $10.8 billion in Q2 FY2026 alone — 143% above the same quarter a year earlier. The company holds a market capitalization of approximately $1.85 trillion as of July 2026, and its six confirmed hyperscaler XPU customers include Google, Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic. Broadcom guides to more than $100 billion in AI semiconductor revenue for fiscal year 2027.
Key Findings
- According to Axis Intelligence Research’s analysis of Broadcom’s SEC-filed earnings, AI semiconductor revenue represented 48.7% of Broadcom’s total Q2 FY2026 revenue — the first quarter on record in which AI chips accounted for nearly half of the company’s consolidated top line.
- According to Broadcom’s fiscal year 2025 Form 10-K, the company employed approximately 33,000 people as of November 2, 2025, with 57% in research and development roles and 49% located in North America — generating $1.94 million in annual revenue per employee.
- According to Broadcom’s Q2 FY2026 8-K filed with the SEC, adjusted EBITDA reached $15.244 billion in the quarter, representing 69% of revenue — a margin structure that generates nearly $0.70 of operating cash for every dollar of revenue.
- According to Axis Intelligence Research’s calculation, Broadcom’s fiscal 2025 free cash flow of $26.9 billion represented 42.1% of its $63.887 billion in annual revenue, one of the highest free-cash-flow margins among the 20 largest U.S. technology companies by revenue.
- According to Broadcom’s fiscal 2025 annual report filed with the SEC, one customer accounted for 32% of net revenue — the highest single-customer concentration the company has ever reported — and its top five customers collectively represented approximately 40% of total net revenue.
How Much Revenue Does Broadcom Make?
Broadcom’s fiscal year runs to the nearest Sunday to October 31. Fiscal year 2025 ended November 2, 2025.
Full-year fiscal 2025 revenue came in at $63.887 billion, up 24% from $51.574 billion in fiscal 2024, which itself was up 44% from the $35.819 billion reported in fiscal 2023. The acceleration from fiscal 2023 reflects the November 2023 closing of the VMware acquisition and the subsequent surge in AI-related semiconductor demand.
For the first half of fiscal year 2026 (the two quarters ending May 3, 2026), Broadcom reported $41.498 billion in consolidated revenue — already 65% of full-year fiscal 2025 revenue in just two quarters.
Quarterly Revenue Trend

That step-change from +28% to +48% YoY between Q4 FY2025 and Q2 FY2026 is the most important single data point in understanding where Broadcom is positioned today. It is not broad-based acceleration — it is an AI semiconductor story becoming a majority-revenue story.
Annual Revenue History
| Fiscal Year | Revenue | YoY Change | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| FY2022 (ended Oct 30, 2022) | $33.203B | +21% | Broadcom 10-K FY2022 |
| FY2023 (ended Oct 29, 2023) | $35.819B | +8% | Broadcom 10-K FY2023 |

| FY2025 (ended Nov 2, 2025) | $63.887B | +24% | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
The jump from FY2023 to FY2024 reflects VMware’s first full consolidated year. The continued 24% growth in FY2025 signals that the VMware integration is sustaining — not just a one-time consolidation lift.
Broadcom Revenue by Segment
Broadcom reports in two segments: semiconductor solutions and infrastructure software.
Semiconductor Solutions vs. Infrastructure Software
| Segment | FY2025 Revenue | Share | YoY Change | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Semiconductor Solutions | $36.858B | 57.7% | +22% | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| Infrastructure Software | $27.029B | 42.3% | +26% | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| Total | $63.887B | 100% | +24% | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
The infrastructure software segment — which now houses VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), CA Technologies’ mainframe software, and Symantec’s enterprise security stack — generated $27.029 billion in fiscal 2025, up from $21.478 billion in fiscal 2024. That is a $5.5 billion gain from the software side alone, driven largely by VCF adoption and the transition of VMware’s largest customers to subscription licensing.
More than 90% of VMware’s top 10,000 enterprise customers had adopted VMware Cloud Foundation by Q3 fiscal 2025, per Broadcom’s earnings commentary.
In Q2 FY2026, the segment split continued to tilt toward semiconductors as AI revenue accelerated:
| Segment | Q2 FY2026 | Q2 FY2025 | YoY |
|---|---|---|---|
| Semiconductor Solutions | $15.009B (68%) | $8.408B (56%) | +79% |
| Infrastructure Software | $7.178B (32%) | $6.596B (44%) | +9% |
The semiconductor segment’s share of revenue jumped from 56% to 68% in a single year — the math is straightforward: AI chips grew 143% while software grew 9%.
Broadcom Revenue by Geography (FY2025)
Per Broadcom’s fiscal 2025 Form 10-K, revenue by geography of shipment destination:
| Region | FY2025 Revenue | Share | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Americas | $18.94B | 29.6% | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| Asia Pacific | $35.90B | 56.2% | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| EMEA | $9.05B | 14.2% | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
China (including Hong Kong) accounted for 17% of revenue in fiscal 2025, down from 20% in fiscal 2024 — reflecting ongoing restrictions on advanced semiconductor sales into the Chinese market. Broadcom noted in its 10-K that end customers for these products are often located in countries other than where products are shipped.
What Is Broadcom’s AI Semiconductor Revenue?
This is now the central question about Broadcom’s business — and the number has moved faster than most forecasters anticipated.
AI semiconductor revenue figures by quarter (all from Broadcom SEC filings):
| Quarter | AI Semiconductor Revenue | YoY Growth | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q4 FY2024 (ended Nov 3, 2024) | $3.7B (approx.) | — | Broadcom 8-K, Dec 2024 |
| Q1 FY2025 (ended Feb 2, 2025) | $4.1B | +77% | Broadcom 8-K, Mar 6, 2025 |
| Q2 FY2025 (ended May 4, 2025) | $4.4B (implied) | ~46% | Derived: $10.8B ÷ 2.43 |
| Q3 FY2025 (ended Aug 3, 2025) | $5.2B | +63% | Broadcom 8-K, Sept 4, 2025 |
| Q4 FY2025 (ended Nov 2, 2025) | $6.2B (guidance), ~$7.7B (actual est.) | +74% | Broadcom 8-K, Dec 11, 2025 |
| Q1 FY2026 (ended Feb 1, 2026) | $8.2B+ | ~106% | Broadcom 8-K, Mar 5, 2026 |
| Q2 FY2026 (ended May 3, 2026) | $10.8B | +143% | Broadcom 8-K, June 3, 2026 |
| Q3 FY2026 guidance | ~$16.0B | ~+200%+ | Broadcom 8-K, June 3, 2026 |
The compound picture: Broadcom’s quarterly AI chip revenue grew from roughly $3.7 billion at the start of fiscal 2025 to $10.8 billion in Q2 FY2026 — a nearly 3× increase in five quarters.
The Axis AI Revenue Intensity Index (AIRII™) — Broadcom Baseline Reading
Axis Intelligence Research has developed the AI Revenue Intensity Index (AIRII™) to measure not just the proportion of a technology company’s revenue that comes from AI, but the simultaneous momentum of that proportion. Tracking AI share alone misses companies that are moving fast from a low base; tracking growth rates alone misses companies that are already majority-AI but growing more slowly.
Formula: AIRII™ = (AI Revenue ÷ Total Revenue) × (1 + YoY AI Revenue Growth Rate) × 100
Inputs (Q2 FY2026, from Broadcom’s Q2 FY2026 8-K Exhibit 99.1):
- AI Semiconductor Revenue: $10.800 billion
- Total Revenue: $22.187 billion
- YoY AI Revenue Growth Rate: 143% (stated by Hock Tan in earnings release)
Calculation (arithmetic verified):
- AI Share: $10,800M ÷ $22,187M = 0.4868 (48.7%)
- Growth Factor: 1 + 1.43 = 2.43
- AIRII™ = 0.4868 × 2.43 × 100 = 118.3
Interpretation: A theoretical company that is 100% AI and growing its AI revenue 100% YoY would score 200. Broadcom scores 118.3 — meaning nearly half its consolidated revenue comes from AI, and that half is more than doubling year-over-year. No other company in the semiconductor industry has publicly reported figures that would produce an AIRII™ score above 100 at this scale.
This is the baseline AIRII™ reading for Broadcom as of Q2 FY2026 (period ending May 3, 2026). Future readings will be published when Broadcom files quarterly earnings. The index will be updated as comparable companies report sufficient AI revenue disclosure to enable meaningful comparison.

Who Are Broadcom’s AI Chip Customers?
Broadcom’s XPU (custom AI accelerator) business is the most concentrated in the semiconductor industry. The company designs chips tailored to individual hyperscaler architectures over 18-to-24-month co-development cycles, creating switching costs that make customer relationships structurally durable once established.
As of Q2 FY2026 earnings (June 3, 2026), Broadcom’s CEO Hock Tan confirmed six core XPU customers. Four are publicly named in press releases or SEC-referenced disclosures:
| Customer | Relationship | Key Disclosure | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google TPU (Tensor Processing Units); supply agreement through 2031 | TPU v7 “Ironwood” in production | Broadcom IR, April 2026 | |
| Meta | MTIA (Meta Training and Inference Accelerator); >1 GW initial commitment | Multi-gigawatt rollout from 2027 | Meta newsroom, April 14, 2026 |
| OpenAI | First joint XPU “Jalapeño” revealed June 2026; targeting 1 GW in 2027 | New chip disclosed June 2026 | Published reports, June 2026 |
| Anthropic | $10B AI chip order; 1 GW in 2026, 3+ GW targeted for 2027 | Named by Hock Tan, Dec 2024 | Broadcom IR, Q2 FY2026 earnings call |
Two XPU customers remain unnamed by Broadcom. Industry analysts and published reports most frequently identify Apple and ByteDance as the probable candidates, based on known ASIC programs and Broadcom’s existing relationships.
Per Broadcom’s fiscal 2025 Form 10-K, one unnamed customer accounted for 32% of total net revenue — a figure that, in context, almost certainly reflects the scale of Google’s multi-year TPU commitments.
Broadcom’s $73 Billion AI Backlog
As of Q4 FY2025, Broadcom’s total AI order backlog stood at $73 billion across XPUs and AI networking components, with deliveries scheduled over the following 18 months. This backlog provides a floor for the $100 billion annual AI semiconductor revenue target Broadcom has maintained for fiscal year 2027.
Broadcom AI Networking: Tomahawk and Jericho
Broadcom’s semiconductor business is not limited to custom XPU accelerators. Its AI networking silicon — primarily the Tomahawk Ethernet switch family and Jericho fabric chips — plays an equally critical role in large-scale AI cluster deployments.
The Tomahawk 6 switch, announced at 102.4 terabits per second and entering volume production in early 2026, is the highest-bandwidth merchant Ethernet switch available. Broadcom’s Jericho 4 fabric chip (51.2 Tbps), which began shipping in August 2025, is designed to interconnect more than one million XPUs across distributed data center sites.
AI switch backlog for Broadcom’s networking products exceeded $10 billion as of Q4 FY2025 — a separate order book from the XPU backlog, reflecting the infrastructure build-out happening in parallel with the accelerator deployments.
Broadcom Profitability and Cash Flow Statistics
Broadcom’s profitability metrics are atypical for a company of its revenue scale, and understanding why requires separating GAAP from non-GAAP figures — both are legitimate, but they tell different stories.
Fiscal Year 2025 Summary
| Metric | FY2025 | FY2024 | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $63.887B | $51.574B | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| GAAP Gross Margin | $43.294B (67.8%) | $32.509B (63.1%) | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| GAAP Operating Income | $25.484B | $13.463B | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| GAAP Net Income | $23.126B | $5.895B | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| Adjusted EBITDA | $43.004B | $31.897B | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| Cash from Operations | $27.537B | $19.962B | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |

| Capital Expenditures | $0.623B | $0.548B | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
The gap between GAAP net income ($23.1 billion) and adjusted EBITDA ($43.0 billion) in fiscal 2025 reflects primarily $8.1 billion in amortization of acquisition-related intangible assets from the VMware deal — a non-cash charge that inflates the accounting distance between the two measures.
The GAAP net income number is itself exceptional: $23.126 billion in fiscal 2025 versus $5.895 billion in fiscal 2024 — a 292% increase — resulting partly from a one-time discrete non-cash tax benefit of $2.1 billion from lapsed statutes of limitations. Strip that out and the underlying net income was approximately $21 billion, which is still a 257% increase year-over-year.
Q2 FY2026 Financial Highlights (Period Ending May 3, 2026)
| Metric | Q2 FY2026 | Q2 FY2025 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $22.187B | $15.004B | +48% |
| GAAP Net Income | $9.310B | $4.965B | +88% |
| Adjusted EBITDA | $15.244B | $10.001B | +52% |
| Free Cash Flow | $10.262B | $6.411B | +60% |
| GAAP Diluted EPS | $1.91 | $1.03 | +85% |
Broadcom’s quarterly free cash flow of $10.262 billion in Q2 FY2026 is, by itself, larger than the annual revenue of many mid-cap technology companies.
The 42% Free Cash Flow Margin
According to Axis Intelligence Research’s calculation, Broadcom’s fiscal 2025 free cash flow of $26.914 billion represented 42.1% of its $63.887 billion in annual revenue. This figure, derived directly from Broadcom’s Q4 FY2025 8-K filed with the SEC, places Broadcom among the highest free-cash-flow-margin businesses in the global technology sector.
The structural reason: Broadcom’s capital expenditure requirement is genuinely small. Fiscal 2025 capex was just $623 million — less than 1% of revenue — because Broadcom is a fabless semiconductor and software company. TSMC and other contract manufacturers carry the fixed assets; Broadcom captures the margin.
Broadcom Market Capitalization and Stock Statistics
| Metric | Value | As of | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Market Capitalization | ~$1.85 trillion | July 2026 | Stock market data, July 2026 |
| 52-Week High | $495.00 | 2025–2026 period | Published market data |
| 52-Week Low | $281.61 | 2025–2026 period | Published market data |
| Shares Outstanding | ~4.76 billion | May 2026 | Broadcom 10-Q Q2 FY2026 |
| Annual Dividend per Share | $2.60 | FY2026 target | Broadcom 8-K, Dec 11, 2025 |
| Dividend Increase | 15th consecutive annual increase | FY2026 | Broadcom 8-K, Dec 11, 2025 |
| Trailing P/E (GAAP) | ~63x | July 2026 | Published market data |
The $2.60 annual dividend for fiscal 2026 represents a 10% increase over fiscal 2025’s quarterly rate of $0.59 per share (annualized $2.36). Broadcom has paid uninterrupted and increasing dividends since fiscal 2011 — fifteen consecutive years.
At ~$1.85 trillion in market capitalization, Broadcom ranks among the seven most valuable companies in the world as of July 2026.
Broadcom Employee Statistics
Per Broadcom’s fiscal 2025 Form 10-K (filed December 18, 2025 with the SEC):
| Metric | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Total Employees (as of Nov 2, 2025) | ~33,000 | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| % in R&D roles | 57% | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| % in North America | 49% | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| % in Asia | 36% | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| % in Europe, Middle East & Africa | 15% | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| Voluntary Attrition Rate (FY2025) | ~4.1% | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| U.S. Patents held | ~19,000 | Broadcom 10-K FY2025 |
| Revenue per Employee (FY2025) | ~$1.94 million | Axis Intelligence Research calc |
The 57% R&D concentration is unusually high — and intentional. Broadcom’s operating model retains the engineers and sheds the manufacturing; fabless production means the headcount footprint stays lean while the intellectual property density stays high. The ~4.1% voluntary attrition rate falls below technology industry benchmarks per Aon’s 2025 Salary Increase and Turnover Study, which Broadcom cites in its 10-K.
Headcount has declined from approximately 37,000 in fiscal 2024 to 33,000 in fiscal 2025 — an 11% reduction that reflects post-VMware integration workforce optimization rather than business contraction.
Broadcom Acquisition History and M&A Statistics
Broadcom’s current form is the product of a serial acquisition strategy that transformed a communications chip company into a dual-segment semiconductor and software platform over roughly a decade.
| Acquisition | Year Closed | Price | Strategic Rationale |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brocade Communications Systems | 2017 | $5.9B | Fibre Channel SAN networking |
| CA Technologies | 2018 | $18.9B | Mainframe software, IT management |
| Symantec Enterprise Security | 2019 | $10.7B | Cybersecurity software |
| VMware, Inc. | November 2023 | ~$61–69B | Cloud infrastructure, virtualization |
The combined M&A spend on CA Technologies and Symantec Enterprise Security was approximately $29.6 billion. The VMware transaction, valued at approximately $69 billion in equity and debt consideration, closed November 22, 2023 and added the single largest software segment acquisition in semiconductor industry history.
Broadcom’s goodwill as of May 3, 2026 stood at $97.801 billion — reflecting the premium paid over book value across these deals and signaling the scale at which the company is carrying acquired intangible value on its balance sheet.
Broadcom R&D Spending Statistics
Broadcom’s GAAP research and development expense reached $10.977 billion in fiscal year 2025, up 17.9% from $9.310 billion in fiscal 2024. This represents 17.2% of fiscal 2025 revenue — a relatively high ratio compared to other semiconductor companies, reflecting both the complexity of custom AI chip design and the inherited software R&D from the VMware, CA Technologies, and Symantec acquisitions.
On a non-GAAP basis, R&D expense was $5.957 billion in fiscal 2025 — the difference from the GAAP figure ($10.977B) is entirely stock-based compensation, which totaled $5.020 billion in the R&D line alone.
Two-quarter FY2026 GAAP R&D: $5.960 billion (Q1 $2.965B + Q2 $2.995B), indicating the full-year run rate for fiscal 2026 will likely exceed $12 billion.
Broadcom Balance Sheet Statistics (As of May 3, 2026)
From Broadcom’s Q2 FY2026 10-Q filed with the SEC:
| Item | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Cash and Cash Equivalents | $19.628B | Broadcom 10-Q Q2 FY2026 |
| Total Assets | $179.158B | Broadcom 10-Q Q2 FY2026 |
| Long-Term Debt | $62.655B | Broadcom 10-Q Q2 FY2026 |
| Short-Term Debt | $2.252B | Broadcom 10-Q Q2 FY2026 |
| Total Debt | ~$64.9B | Axis Intelligence Research calc |
| Goodwill | $97.801B | Broadcom 10-Q Q2 FY2026 |
| Intangible Assets (net) | $28.333B | Broadcom 10-Q Q2 FY2026 |
| Total Stockholders’ Equity | $87.691B | Broadcom 10-Q Q2 FY2026 |
The $64.9 billion in total debt is the primary legacy of the VMware acquisition financing. Broadcom generated $18.272 billion in free cash flow in the first two fiscal quarters of 2026 alone — a pace that, if sustained, would service the debt while simultaneously funding dividends and buybacks.
What Is Broadcom’s AI Revenue Forecast for 2027?
CEO Hock Tan has maintained throughout 2026 a public commitment to “AI semiconductor revenue in excess of $100 billion” for fiscal year 2027 (which ends in November 2027). This guidance was reiterated on the Q2 FY2026 earnings call on June 3, 2026, and is supported by the $73 billion in committed customer backlog across XPUs and AI networking components.
The path to $100 billion requires Broadcom’s quarterly AI revenue to average approximately $25 billion across four quarters. In Q3 FY2026, Broadcom guided AI semiconductor revenue to approximately $16 billion — meaning the $25 billion quarterly average implies a further acceleration in Q4 FY2026 and into fiscal 2027.
Whether the target is achievable in fiscal 2027 or represents fiscal 2028 timing is a genuine analytical debate. The structural inputs — six confirmed customers, long-term supply agreements, TSMC capacity secured through 2028 — make the range defensible; the execution on ramp timing for Anthropic’s 3 GW order and OpenAI’s first full production generation is the variable.
Broadcom vs. Competitors: Key Financial Comparisons
| Company | Annual Revenue (Most Recent Full Year) | AI/Data Center Revenue | Market Cap (July 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nvidia | ~$130B+ (FY2026 est.) | ~$115B+ | ~$3.5 trillion |
| Broadcom | $63.887B (FY2025) | $56B+ guided FY2026 AI chips | ~$1.85 trillion |
| Marvell Technology | ~$7B | AI ASIC, growing | ~$100B+ |
| Qualcomm | ~$39B | Mobile AI primarily | ~$200B+ |
Nvidia’s data center revenue dwarfs Broadcom’s AI semiconductor revenue in absolute terms — but Broadcom is the only viable scaled alternative in custom AI ASIC design services. Analysts place Broadcom’s share of the custom AI accelerator market at 60–70%, with Marvell holding approximately 25%.
How Has Broadcom’s Business Transformed Since 2015?
The clearest way to understand Broadcom’s transformation is through its two revenue lines. In fiscal 2022, before VMware, semiconductor solutions represented roughly 80% of total revenue. By fiscal 2025, infrastructure software — essentially zero before the CA Technologies acquisition in 2018 — represented 42% of consolidated revenue.
That is not diversification for its own sake. The software segment carries structurally higher margins: Broadcom’s infrastructure software gross margin reached 93% in Q4 FY2025, with an operating margin of 78%. The semiconductor segment operates at roughly 60-65% gross margin. Mixing a 93% margin software business into a semiconductor company changes the blended economics materially.
The other transformation is geographic dependence reduction. China-bound shipments fell from 20% of revenue in fiscal 2024 to 17% in fiscal 2025, tracking the ongoing restriction environment for advanced semiconductors in Chinese markets.

AIRII™ Methodology
The Axis AI Revenue Intensity Index (AIRII™) is an Axis Intelligence Research original metric, first published July 2026. Formula: (AI Revenue ÷ Total Revenue) × (1 + YoY AI Revenue Growth Rate) × 100. The index is designed to capture simultaneously the weight of AI in a company’s current revenue base and the momentum of that weight. A company scoring 100 is, in effect, generating AI revenue at a rate equal to its total revenue times its growth rate — it represents a threshold above which AI is not merely present but dominant and accelerating. Inputs are taken only from primary SEC filings. The metric is not seasonally adjusted. Historical comparisons require consistent quarter-to-quarter input periods.
Limitations
Geography figures represent shipment destinations, not end-customer location. Customer concentration disclosures name percentages but not identities (except for publicly confirmed XPU relationships). Forward guidance figures are management estimates and may differ materially from reported results.
