U.S. shoppers spent $14.25 billion online on Cyber Monday 2025 — the largest e-commerce day ever recorded, per Adobe. But Axis Intelligence Research finds Cyber Monday’s lead over Black Friday is shrinking: its Monday-to-Friday Ratio (MFR™) fell from 1.265 in 2023 to 1.208 in 2025, and Adobe’s own 2026 forecast implies 1.171.
Quick Answer
Cyber Monday 2025 generated $14.25 billion in U.S. online sales, up 7.1% year over year, according to Adobe Analytics. Adobe forecasts $15.1 billion for Cyber Monday 2026 (November 30). Axis Intelligence Research calculates that Cyber Monday still out-earns Black Friday by about 21%, but that margin has narrowed for two straight years — and on current growth rates, the two days converge in roughly six years.
Key Findings
- Cyber Monday 2025 drove $14.25 billion in U.S. online spending, up 7.1%, the biggest online shopping day on record (Adobe, December 2, 2025).
- Axis Intelligence Research finds Cyber Monday’s Monday-to-Friday Ratio (MFR™) dropped from 1.265 in 2023 to 1.208 in 2025, and Adobe’s forecast implies 1.171 for 2026.
- Axis Intelligence Research finds buy now, pay later carried 7.23% of Cyber Monday 2025 online spend — below the 7.76% BNPL share of the full 2025 holiday season.
- On Cyber Monday 2025, 57.5% of U.S. online sales came through mobile devices, up from 41.4% in 2020 (Adobe).
- Axis Intelligence Research calculates Cyber Monday 2025 spending ran 3.37 times the average day of the 2025 holiday season.
How Much Was Spent on Cyber Monday 2025?
U.S. consumers spent $14.25 billion online on Monday, December 1, 2025, according to Adobe’s Cyber Week recap, up 7.1% and just above Adobe’s pre-season projection of $14.2 billion. Between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., shoppers spent $16 million every minute. Axis Intelligence Research calculates the day’s average pace at $9.9 million per minute ($14.25 billion ÷ 1,440 minutes) — so the evening peak ran about 1.62 times the daily average.
Cyber Monday Sales by Year (U.S. online, Adobe)
| Year | Cyber Monday online spend | YoY growth | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | $11.3B | +5.8% | Adobe, Nov 29, 2022 |
| 2023 | $12.4B | +9.6% | Adobe, Nov 28, 2023 |
| 2024 | $13.3B | +7.3% | Adobe, Dec 3, 2024 |
| 2025 | $14.25B | +7.1% | Adobe, Dec 2, 2025 |
| 2026 (forecast) | $15.1B | +6.2% | Adobe, Sep 28, 2026 |
Axis Intelligence Research calculates a 2022–2025 compound annual growth rate of 8.0% for Cyber Monday — versus 9.0% for Black Friday over the same span. That one-point gap is the whole story of the next section.
Is Cyber Monday Still the Biggest Online Shopping Day?
Yes, on Adobe’s meter. Cyber Monday accounted for 32.2% of 2025 Cyber Week’s $44.2 billion and 5.53% of the entire $257.8 billion November–December season, per Axis Intelligence Research calculations on Adobe’s season recap.
Sarah Davis: A single day that clears a twentieth of a 61-day season is a settlement event, not a sale. Card networks, BNPL lenders and fraud teams staff for the 8 p.m. spike the way utilities staff for a heat wave — which is why the trend in the ratio below matters more to payments people than the record itself.
Is Black Friday Catching Up to Cyber Monday?
Axis Intelligence Research tracks this with the Monday-to-Friday Ratio (MFR™): Cyber Monday U.S. online spend divided by Black Friday U.S. online spend, both measured by Adobe in the same year. An MFR of 1.00 would mean parity.
| Year | Cyber Monday | Black Friday | MFR™ | CM lead ($) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | $11.3B | $9.12B | 1.239 | $2.18B |
| 2023 | $12.4B | $9.8B | 1.265 | $2.60B |
| 2024 | $13.3B | $10.8B | 1.231 | $2.50B |
| 2025 | $14.25B | $11.8B | 1.208 | $2.45B |
| 2026F | $15.1B | $12.9B | 1.171 | $2.20B |
Source: Adobe Analytics releases (2022–2026); MFR™ calculated by Axis Intelligence Research.
Black Friday growth beat Cyber Monday growth in both 2024 (10.2% vs 7.3%) and 2025 (9.1% vs 7.1%), and Adobe’s 2026 forecast repeats the pattern (9.2% vs 6.2%), citing earlier and deeper discounts on TVs, apparel and appliances on the Friday.
Axis Intelligence Research estimates that if Adobe’s 2026 growth rates held constant, the MFR would reach 1.00 in about 5.7 years: ln(15.1 ÷ 12.9) ÷ ln(1.092 ÷ 1.062). At 2025’s growth gap the same calculation gives roughly ten years. Neither is a forecast — it is the clock implied by each year’s spread.
Sarah Davis: Merchants used to treat Cyber Monday as the online day and Black Friday as the store day. Adobe’s data says the online wallet now opens on Friday and the Monday is becoming, in Adobe’s own 2024 phrasing, “last call.” Retailers whose fraud rules and payment-routing thresholds still peak on Monday are calibrated to a calendar that is fading.
How Many People Shop on Cyber Monday?
75.9 million Americans shopped online on Cyber Monday 2025, up from 64.4 million in 2024, according to the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights — growth Axis Intelligence Research calculates at 17.9%. NRF still ranks Cyber Monday second for online shopper counts, behind Black Friday’s 85.7 million.
That gives the strange-but-true split at the heart of 2025: Black Friday has more online shoppers (NRF survey) while Cyber Monday has more online dollars (Adobe transactions). Axis Intelligence Research does not divide Adobe dollars by NRF headcounts to produce a “spend per shopper” — one is a measured transaction panel, the other a 3,099-person survey, and the quotient would carry false precision.
Cyber Monday Shopper Breakdown
| Metric | 2024 | 2025 | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cyber Monday online shoppers | 64.4M | 75.9M | NRF / Prosper |
| Shopping via mobile on Cyber Monday | 40.4M | 46.9M | NRF / Prosper |
| Total Thanksgiving–Cyber Monday shoppers | — | 202.9M | NRF / Prosper |
| Avg. holiday spend per weekend shopper | — | $337.86 | NRF / Prosper |
| Holiday shopping still remaining after the weekend | — | 53% | NRF / Prosper |
How Much Is Spent With Buy Now, Pay Later on Cyber Monday?
BNPL drove $1.03 billion of Cyber Monday 2025 online spend, up 4.2%, the first single day above $1 billion (Adobe). Adobe expects $1.09 billion on Cyber Monday 2026 and $21.3 billion across the 2026 season.
The record hides a softer number. Axis Intelligence Research’s BNPL Day Share (BDS™) — BNPL online spend divided by total online spend on the same day — shows Cyber Monday’s installment intensity slipping:
| Period | BNPL spend | Total online spend | BDS™ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cyber Monday 2023 | $940M | $12.4B | 7.58% |
| Cyber Monday 2024 | $991.2M | $13.3B | 7.45% |
| Cyber Monday 2025 | $1.03B | $14.25B | 7.23% |
| Full 2025 holiday season | $20B | $257.8B | 7.76% |
| Cyber Monday 2026F | $1.09B | $15.1B | 7.22% |
| Black Friday 2026F | $807M | $12.9B | 6.26% |
| Full 2026 season (F) | $21.3B | $275.1B | 7.74% |
Source: Adobe Analytics; BDS™ calculated by Axis Intelligence Research.
BNPL grew 4.2% on Cyber Monday 2025 while total Cyber Monday spend grew 7.1%. The billion-dollar headline is real; the share behind it is not climbing.
Sarah Davis: Cyber Monday is the day shoppers are least likely, proportionally, to split the bill over the season. The installment lenders’ volume is being spread across December — the season-wide BDS™ beats the Cyber Monday BDS™ every year we can measure. For underwriting teams, that is a reason to stop modelling Cyber Monday as the stress test. The pressure sits in the long tail of December orders, where 79.4% of Cyber Monday BNPL is already on a phone and the checkout decision takes seconds.
What Share of Cyber Monday Sales Comes From Mobile?
57.5% of Cyber Monday 2025 online sales — $8.2 billion — came through smartphones, per Adobe, up from 57% in 2024, 43% in 2022 and 41.4% in 2020. Salesforce, measuring a different global panel, put mobile at 70% of U.S. online orders across Cyber Week, with mobile wallets used for 29% of U.S. orders (Salesforce via Business Wire).
| Year | Mobile share of Cyber Monday online sales | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | 41.4% | Adobe |
| 2022 | 43% | Adobe |
| 2024 | 57% | Adobe |
| 2025 | 57.5% | Adobe |
The jump between 2022 and 2024 is the mobile story; the half-point gain in 2025 suggests the Cyber Monday mobile share is flattening near 57–58% while Thanksgiving (61.6% in 2025) runs higher.
What Sells Best on Cyber Monday?
Three categories carried 57% of Cyber Monday 2025 online spend, per Adobe: electronics ($3.7 billion, +12.8%), apparel ($2.6 billion, +5.2%) and furniture ($1.8 billion, +5.4%).
Cyber Monday 2025 Sales Lift vs. October Average

|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth headphones & speakers | +1,850% | Adobe |
| Video game consoles | +1,800% | Adobe |
| Refrigerators & freezers | +1,700% | Adobe |
| Home security systems | +1,500% | Adobe |
| Smart home products | +1,450% | Adobe |
| Computers | +1,200% | Adobe |
How Big Are Cyber Monday Discounts?
| Category | Peak discount off list, Cyber Monday 2025 |
|---|---|
| Electronics | 31% |
| Toys | 28% |
| Apparel | 25% |
| Computers | 23% |
| Televisions | 22% |
| Furniture | 19% |
| Appliances | 19% |
| Sporting goods | 17% |
Source: Adobe Analytics, December 2, 2025. For 2026, Adobe expects the deepest electronics and computer discounts on Cyber Monday, but the best TV, toy, apparel, appliance and furniture deals on Black Friday — another reason the MFR™ is drifting down.
How Much Do Cyber Monday Numbers Differ Between Trackers?
A journalist quoting “Cyber Monday sales” in 2025 could cite $14.25 billion (Adobe) or $13.6 billion (Salesforce, up 6%) — a $0.65 billion gap Axis Intelligence Research does not average away. Adobe measures direct transactions on U.S. retail sites; Salesforce extrapolates from its commerce-platform panel using market assumptions. Salesforce’s Black Friday figure ($18 billion U.S.) also covers sales broadly, including in-store, while its Cyber Monday figure is online-only — so the two Salesforce days are not comparable to each other or to Adobe’s.
| Tracker | Cyber Monday 2025 | Scope | Method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adobe Analytics | $14.25B | U.S., online | Transactions on U.S. retail sites |
| Salesforce | $13.6B U.S. / $53B global | Online | Panel of 1.5B shoppers, extrapolated |
| Shopify | $14.6B (4-day BFCM, global) | Online + offline merchant GMV | Shopify 8-K |
Shopify’s figure is a four-day, worldwide, merchant-GMV number (up 27%; average cart $114.70; 16% cross-border orders) and should never be compared to a single U.S. day.
Sarah Davis: Pick one meter and stay on it. Every year someone writes “Cyber Monday slowed” by comparing one firm’s 2024 number with another’s 2025 number. The spreads between panels are larger than the year-over-year growth.
How Are AI and Social Media Changing Cyber Monday?
Traffic to U.S. retail sites from generative-AI chat and browser services rose 670% year over year on Cyber Monday 2025, per Adobe, which notes the base remains modest; Adobe forecasts an 88% rise for Cyber Monday 2026. Salesforce reports AI and agents influenced 20% of global Cyber Week orders. Social media’s share of Cyber Monday revenue reached 3.6% (from 2.3% in 2024), and affiliates and partners — including influencers — carried 21.8%.
The growth rate is spectacular; the revenue share is still small. A 670% jump in referrals will not move the MFR™ or the BDS™ this year.
How Does Cyber Monday Compare With Overall E-Commerce Growth?
The U.S. Census Bureau reports seasonally adjusted e-commerce grew 12.2% year over year in Q2 2026 and reached 17.1% of total retail sales. Adobe forecasts 6.7% growth for the 2026 online holiday season and 6.2% for Cyber Monday. The two series measure different things — Census surveys all retail e-commerce, Adobe tracks a transaction panel — so we report them side by side rather than blending them. Still, the direction is worth flagging: the peak days are growing more slowly than e-commerce overall, which is what a flattening of the holiday spike looks like.

Methodology
Collection. Every figure was retrieved from primary releases on October 2, 2026: Adobe Analytics press releases (2022–2026), the Salesforce Cyber Week release (via Business Wire), Shopify’s December 2, 2025 Form 8-K exhibit on SEC EDGAR, the NRF/Prosper Thanksgiving weekend survey (3,099 adults, ±1.8 points), and the U.S. Census Bureau Quarterly E-Commerce report. Secondary aggregators were not used.
Axis metrics.
- MFR™ (Monday-to-Friday Ratio) = Adobe Cyber Monday U.S. online spend ÷ Adobe Black Friday U.S. online spend, same year. Parity estimate = ln(MFR) ÷ ln[(1 + BF growth) ÷ (1 + CM growth)].
- BDS™ (BNPL Day Share) = Adobe BNPL online spend ÷ Adobe total online spend for the same day or period × 100.
- Peak multiple = Cyber Monday spend ÷ (season total ÷ 61 days).
All arithmetic was run twice (floating point and exact rational fractions). Inputs from different methodologies (Adobe, Salesforce, NRF, Census) are never combined into one figure.
Scope. Adobe figures are nominal (not inflation-adjusted) and cover U.S. retail sites in its panel. Forecast rows are Adobe projections, not results. The parity horizon is an arithmetic illustration, not a prediction.
