Meta’s advertising business generated $59.363 billion in the quarter ended June 30, 2026, up 27% year over year. Ad impressions delivered across the Family of Apps rose 14% and the average price per ad rose 12%. Advertising accounted for 97.63% of Meta’s total revenue. Trailing-twelve-month advertising revenue reached $222.606 billion.

Quick Answer

Facebook and Instagram ads — reported by Meta as a single Family of Apps advertising line — produced $59.363 billion in Q2 2026 and $222.606 billion over the trailing twelve months. Advertising remains 97.63% of company revenue. Axis Intelligence Research finds that 49.16% of Meta’s entire year-over-year advertising growth came from US & Canada alone, a region holding only 43.05% of the prior-year base.

Key Findings

  1. Axis Intelligence Research finds that US & Canada supplied 49.16% of Meta’s $12.80 billion year-over-year advertising revenue increase in Q2 2026 while representing 43.05% of the year-ago base.
  2. Axis Intelligence Research finds that the US & Canada Ad Growth Concentration Index (AGCI) reached 1.14 in Q2 2026 after four consecutive quarters below 1.00 — the first reading above parity in the observed series.
  3. Axis Intelligence Research finds that Asia-Pacific’s AGCI fell to 0.68 in Q2 2026, the lowest regional reading across the five quarters computed, despite the region delivering 18.6% advertising revenue growth.
  4. Axis Intelligence Research finds that Meta earned $16.58 in advertising revenue per daily active person (ADRP) in Q2 2026, up 23.0% from $13.48 a year earlier — a figure Meta does not itself publish, because its reported ARPP includes non-advertising revenue.
  5. According to Meta’s Q2 2026 results, ad impressions rose 14% year over year while average price per ad rose 12%, the second consecutive quarter of 12% price growth.

How Much Revenue Do Facebook Ads Generate in 2026?

Meta does not break out Facebook separately from Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp. All four report inside the Family of Apps segment, and the advertising line covers the whole family. Anyone quoting a “Facebook ad revenue” figure that excludes Instagram is quoting an estimate, not a filing.

The filing number is $59.363 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, disclosed in Meta’s Form 10-Q filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Total revenue was $60.801 billion, so advertising carried 97.63% of the business. Family of Apps other revenue — WhatsApp paid messaging and subscriptions — crossed $1 billion for the first time at $1.007 billion, which is roughly 1.7% of the segment.

Two things sit underneath that headline. Family of Apps operating income was $23.394 billion in Q2 2026 — lower than the $24.971 billion a year earlier, despite $12.8 billion more advertising revenue. And free cash flow fell to $784 million from $8.549 billion, on capital expenditures of $31.078 billion. The advertising engine is running hot; the company around it is spending faster than the engine earns.

Mia Scarlett, Business & Filings: The segment table is where this quarter gets interesting. Revenue rose 28%, operating margin fell from 43% to 31%, and the summary version blames a $2.40 billion legal charge and $1.18 billion of severance. Strip both out and Family of Apps operating income still lands below last year’s, because the depreciation on $119.68 billion of servers and network assets does not care what the press release emphasizes. Advertisers reading this for budget signal should note the direction: Meta needs the ad business to price harder, not softer, to fund what it has already committed to build.

Where Is Facebook Ad Growth Actually Coming From?

This is the section nobody else publishes, because it requires reconstructing Meta’s regional advertising series and then asking a question the company’s own disclosure does not ask.

Meta reports advertising revenue by user geography in its quarterly earnings presentation. Worldwide advertising revenue grew $12.800 billion between Q2 2025 and Q2 2026. That increase did not distribute itself evenly.

The Ad Growth Concentration Index (AGCI)

AGCI — Ad Growth Concentration Index. Axis Intelligence Research built AGCI to answer one question a share-of-revenue table cannot: is a region absorbing more or less of the growth than its existing weight would predict?

Formula:

AGCI(region) = (region's share of worldwide YoY advertising-revenue increase)
÷ (region's share of year-ago worldwide advertising revenue)

Worked example, US & Canada, Q2 2026:

  • Share of growth = $6,292M ÷ $12,800M = 49.16%
  • Share of year-ago base = $20,045M ÷ $46,563M = 43.05%
  • AGCI = 49.16% ÷ 43.05% = 1.14

A reading of 1.00 means the region grew exactly in line with its starting weight. Above 1.00, the region is pulling growth toward itself and its share of Meta’s advertising base is rising. Below 1.00, it is diluting.

Rest of World1.071.211.291.161.27Axis Intelligence Research

The pattern held for four quarters and then inverted. US & Canada sat below parity from Q2 2025 through Q1 2026 — four readings between 0.89 and 0.97 — and jumped to 1.14 in Q2 2026. Europe moved the opposite direction over the same quarter, from 1.20 to 0.87, its first sub-parity reading in the series. Asia-Pacific’s 0.68 is the weakest regional reading Axis Intelligence Research computed.

Rest of World is the quiet story. It has printed above 1.00 in all five quarters, and its advertising revenue grew 65.9% over two years against Asia-Pacific’s 40.5%. Its share of worldwide advertising revenue climbed from 12.73% in Q2 2024 to 13.63% in Q2 2026, while Asia-Pacific’s fell from 20.14% to 18.27%.

Mia Scarlett, Business & Filings: One quarter is a data point, not a trend, and the honest reading of the US & Canada flip is that it needs a second confirming quarter before anyone builds a 2027 plan on it. What makes it worth watching now is the shape: Meta’s own disclosure says impressions grew fastest in the geographies that monetize at lower rates, which mechanically drags the worldwide average price per ad downward. So a North American advertiser looking at “+12% price per ad worldwide” and concluding their costs rose 12% is reading a blended number that includes cheap inventory they will never buy. The regional revenue table is closer to what their invoice will say than the headline is.

How Fast Are Facebook Ad Prices Rising?

Meta discloses two auction inputs each quarter: the year-over-year change in ad impressions delivered, and the year-over-year change in average price per ad. Both are worldwide blends.

MetricQ1 2026Q2 2026Source
Ad impressions delivered, YoY—+14%Meta Q2 2026 results
Average price per ad, YoY+12%+12%Meta Q2 2026 results
Advertising revenue, YoY+32.9%+27.5%Axis Intelligence Research

Q2 2026 marked the second consecutive quarter of 12% average price growth. Impressions decelerated from the prior quarter while price held its rate — supply growth cooling while the clearing price stays firm is what pricing power looks like inside an auction.

The arithmetic is worth stating plainly, because it is where most published commentary goes wrong. Impressions up 14% and price up 12% do not sum to 27.5% revenue growth by addition; they compound. 1.14 × 1.12 = 1.277, and the reported figure is 1.275. Volume and price contributed in roughly equal measure, with price doing slightly less of the work than volume.

Axis Intelligence Research treats the worldwide price figure as a planning floor rather than a planning number, for the reason Meta itself states in its filing: impression growth concentrates in geographies that monetize at lower rates. Every low-priced impression added outside North America pulls the worldwide average down without changing what a US advertiser pays at auction.

How Much Does Meta Earn Per User From Advertising?

Meta publishes Average Revenue per Person (ARPP), which divides total Family of Apps revenue — advertising plus WhatsApp paid messaging plus subscriptions — by average daily active people. Now that other revenue has crossed $1 billion a quarter, ARPP is no longer a clean advertising metric.

ADRP — Ad Revenue per Daily Active Person. Axis Intelligence Research computes the advertising-only equivalent using Meta’s own denominator.

Formula:

ADRP = worldwide advertising revenue for the quarter
÷ average of Family daily active people at the start and end of the quarter
QuarterADRP (Axis)ARPP (Meta reported)GapSource
Q2 2025$13.48$13.65$0.17Axis Intelligence Research / Meta
Q3 2025$14.27$14.46$0.20Axis Intelligence Research / Meta
Q4 2025$16.33$16.56$0.23Axis Intelligence Research / Meta
Q1 2026$15.41$15.66$0.25Axis Intelligence Research / Meta
Q2 2026$16.58$16.86$0.28Axis Intelligence Research / Meta

ADRP rose 23.0% year over year, from $13.48 to $16.58. The gap between ARPP and ADRP has widened every quarter for five quarters, from $0.17 to $0.28, which is the non-advertising business becoming visible in a metric that used to be a pure advertising proxy.

Family daily active people reached 3.60 billion on average for June 2026, up 3% year over year. Revenue per person grew roughly eight times faster than the person count — Meta’s advertising growth in 2026 is a monetization story, not an audience-acquisition story.

How Is Regulation Changing Facebook Ad Targeting?

Two proceedings bear directly on what advertisers can target and where.

In Europe, the European Commission fined Meta €200 million in April 2025, finding that its consent-or-pay model breached the Digital Markets Act obligation to offer users a service relying on less personal data. Meta subsequently committed to give EU users a choice between fully personalised advertising and a reduced-data option with more limited personalisation, presented to users from January 2026. Q2 2026 is therefore among the first full quarters of European advertising revenue reported under the new settings, and Europe’s AGCI reading of 0.87 that quarter is the number to watch as more quarters accumulate.

In the United States, the position reversed. The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled in Meta’s favour in November 2025, concluding the company does not hold monopoly power in personal social networking given competition from TikTok and YouTube — the Congressional Research Service summary sets out the court’s reasoning. The Federal Trade Commission filed notice of appeal in January 2026, so the matter is live before the D.C. Circuit.

Axis Intelligence Research does not assert a causal link between either proceeding and the Q2 2026 regional readings. The AGCI inversion is one quarter old, and Meta’s own investor relations disclosure attributes pricing gains to ad-performance improvements rather than to regional policy. What the data supports is narrower and still useful: the two largest mature advertising markets moved in opposite directions in the same quarter, under materially different regulatory conditions, and that divergence is now measurable.

Methodology

Collection. Every figure originates in a Meta primary document fetched and read on August 26, 2026: the Q2 2026 earnings presentation hosted on Meta’s investor relations CDN, the Q2 2026 results press release, and the Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 filed with the SEC. Regulatory figures come from the European Commission press corner, the Congressional Research Service, and the Federal Trade Commission. No aggregator, estimate, or third-party market model contributed a single value.

Structural validation. Regional advertising revenue was transcribed from the earnings presentation and checked by summation: the four regions sum exactly to Meta’s reported worldwide advertising revenue in all nine quarters, and the four regional total-revenue figures sum exactly to reported total revenue in all nine quarters. Eighteen of eighteen checks passed.

Daily active people series validation. Meta’s DAP chart labels are not machine-ordered in the source PDF. Axis Intelligence Research resolved the quarter assignment by recomputing Meta’s own published ARPP from the candidate series using Meta’s stated definition (Family of Apps revenue divided by the average of beginning and ending DAP). The reconstruction reproduces Meta’s reported ARPP to within one cent in all eight quarters where a prior-quarter DAP exists — Q2 2026 computes to $16.8631 against a reported $16.86. The assignment is treated as confirmed on that basis.

Arithmetic verification. All derived figures were computed twice in independent passes, once in floating point and once using exact rational arithmetic, and the results reconciled. AGCI growth shares sum to 100.0000% and base shares sum to 100.0000% at each quarter, as the construction requires.

Formulas. AGCI and ADRP are disclosed inline in the sections where they appear, with inputs and a worked example. Both are computed from Meta-reported values only.

Scope. AGCI is a share-of-growth measure and behaves erratically when worldwide growth is near zero, since the denominator shrinks; readings are meaningful in expansion quarters and should be read with the underlying dollar changes alongside. Meta reports advertising for the whole Family of Apps, so no figure here isolates Facebook from Instagram, Messenger or WhatsApp. Meta’s own filing notes that user-geography assignment relies on IP address and self-disclosed location and may not always reflect actual location. Meta estimates the error margin on Family metrics at approximately 3% of worldwide DAP, which propagates into ADRP. The AGCI series covers five quarters; the Q2 2026 US & Canada inversion is a single reading and is described here as an observation, not an established trend.

About This Dataset

The Facebook Ads Statistics dataset compiled by Axis Intelligence Research contains 165 observations covering Meta advertising revenue by user geography across nine quarters (Q2 2024 – Q2 2026), worldwide advertising and total revenue, Family of Apps revenue and operating income, daily active people, reported ARPP, and the two Axis-constructed metrics (AGCI, ADRP) with their method notes.

Every row carries source_org, source_document, source_url, retrieved_date, is_primary and axis_calculated. Of 165 rows, 95 are direct primary-source observations and 70 are Axis-calculated with a stated formula.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Meta report Facebook ad revenue separately from Instagram?

No. Meta reports a single advertising line for the Family of Apps, covering Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp. Any figure presented as Facebook-only advertising revenue is a third-party estimate. The reported advertising figure for Q2 2026 is $59.363 billion for the whole family.

Why did my Facebook ad costs rise more than the 12% Meta reported?

Meta’s average price per ad is a worldwide blend across all four user geographies. Impression growth concentrates in markets that monetize at lower rates, which pulls the blended average down without changing the clearing price in higher-priced markets. Regional advertising revenue growth — 31.4% in US & Canada against 18.6% in Asia-Pacific in Q2 2026 — is a closer proxy for what a given buyer experiences than the worldwide figure.

What does an AGCI reading above 1.00 mean for a media plan?

It means the region absorbed a larger share of Meta’s advertising growth than its starting share of the base, so competition for that region’s inventory is intensifying faster than the worldwide average implies. US & Canada printed 1.14 in Q2 2026 after four quarters below parity. Rest of World has printed above 1.00 in all five quarters computed.

How much of Meta’s revenue still depends on advertising?

97.63% in Q2 2026. Family of Apps other revenue — WhatsApp paid messaging and subscriptions — reached $1.007 billion, the first time it has crossed $1 billion in a quarter, but it remains under 2% of segment revenue.

Is Meta’s ad revenue growth coming from more users or more money per user?

Almost entirely from monetization. Family daily active people rose 3% year over year to 3.60 billion, while ADRP rose 23.0% from $13.48 to $16.58. Revenue per person grew roughly eight times faster than the audience.

How did the EU Digital Markets Act change Facebook ad targeting in 2026?

The European Commission fined Meta €200 million in April 2025 over its consent-or-pay model, and Meta committed to offer EU users a choice between fully personalised advertising and a reduced-data option, presented from January 2026. Europe’s share of Meta advertising revenue was 23.73% in Q2 2026, and its AGCI fell to 0.87 that quarter from 1.20 in Q1 2026.

Why does Meta’s ARPP differ from advertising revenue per user?

ARPP divides total Family of Apps revenue — advertising plus other revenue — by average daily active people. Since other revenue crossed $1 billion a quarter, ARPP overstates advertising monetization. The gap between ARPP and the advertising-only ADRP has widened from $0.17 to $0.28 over five quarters.

Is Meta’s advertising business more or less profitable than a year ago?

Less, on reported figures. Family of Apps operating income was $23.394 billion in Q2 2026 against $24.971 billion in Q2 2025, despite $12.8 billion more advertising revenue. Company operating margin fell from 43% to 31%, with $2.40 billion of legal charges, $1.18 billion of severance and $31.078 billion of quarterly capital expenditure in the frame.

Which region is growing fastest for Facebook and Instagram advertising?

Rest of World — Africa, Latin America and the Middle East — grew 34.8% year over year in Q2 2026 and 65.9% over two years, the fastest of the four geographies on both measures. Its share of worldwide advertising revenue rose from 12.73% in Q2 2024 to 13.63% in Q2 2026.
